Backlinks are the heart of search engine rankings and can dramatically increase web-site traffic alone. Why? Backlinks carry more importance then any other form of links, because the search engine feels, that if there is a backlink or one-way link to your site from another without linking to them, that your site is more important. 50 Backlinks are more important than 500 reciprocal links. Search engines are aware that webmasters trade links, so to have multiple backlinks from highly important sites tells the search engine, this site is important regarding this particular niche, this is why your backlinks must be relevant. How do I acquire high pr backlinks with out paying hundreds of dollars. Articles! An Article Directory can be your savior in your backlink crisis. Almost all article directories will have at least a PR4 ranking. Why? Unique content and all the article pages providing a backlink to the article directory.

How to install mod_security for Apache

------------------------------------

What is mod_security?

ModSecurity is an open source intrusion detection and prevention engine
for web applications. It operates embedded into the web server, acting as
a powerful umbrella - shielding applications from attacks. ModSecurity
supports both branches of the Apache web server.
-------------------------------------

You can install mod_security on Apache 1.3x or 2.x

Installation steps :

1) Download modsecurity-apache-1.9.2
# wget http://www.modsecurity.org/download/modsecurity-apache-1.9.2.tar.gz
# tar zxvf modsecurity-apache-1.9.2.tar.gz
# cd modsecurity-apache-1.9.2/

2) Now you need to determine which version of apache you use:
If it’s APACHE 1.3.x then
# cd apache1/
If it’s APACHE 2.x then
# cd apache2/

Note : To check apache version give httpd -v command or type http://ip/xyz
you will get apache version.

3) Lets Compile the module now:
Find apxs files path
# locate apxs
If path is /usr/sbin/apxs then give following command
# /usr/sbin/apxs -cia mod_security.c

4) Ok, now its time to edit the httpd conf file. First we will make a
backup just incase something goes wrong:
cp /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf.backup
or
cp /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.backup

5) Now that we have backed it all up, we can edit the httpd.conf. Replace
pico with nano depending on what you have
vi /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
or
vi /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

Now add this :

The Internet is not owned by any individual or organization. The concept of Internet is not tangible. However, it depends on a tangible infrastructure which connects different networks to each other. Many institutions, corporations, organizations, schools, private citizens, services providers, governments do own some parts of this infrastructure but there is no single entity which owns it in its entirety.

Some organizations are certainly setting rules and standards for all that takes place on the Internet. They also assign IP addresses and domain names, such as the National Science Foundation, the Internet Engineering Task Force, ICANN, InterNIC and the Internet Architecture Board.

The search engines systematically and strategically distribute programs called spiders to travel through the Web and to collect all information available on the Internet. These programs are designed to function in a certain way. SEO is the method or tool to provide content to such spiders in such a way that will enhance relevancy.

Spiders follow links on any website either within the site itself or to such other websites to which that website links. These spiders look for Robots.txt file. Sometimes, if a spider cannot find this file, it will not index the website.

It is also advisable to incorporate a Google sitemap. Although it does not give any guarantee that google will include your site, it is helpful in indexing your site with ease.

Clean URLs also facilitate indexing of content by the spiders. Variables and long URLs would create hurdles for the spiders.

1. If your site is included in the online directories naturally it will increase more traffic to your site and this will help you a lot as people search directory listings and find your website.

2. Increase the number of backlinks to your site. If the directory pages are listed in search engines, the link they provide for your site will be listed in the search engines. This benefits you by creating more ways for people to find your site. Ultimately, this will provide more traffic for you.

3. Submitting to directories is a quick way to gain links. Optimizing your site for the search engines is very difficult and time-consuming. It can take a lot of time to learn how to
write for the search engines. In the meantime, any links you can get will help you with
the search engines, and submitting to directories will get you links.

1.      Reliability is the utmost important factor especially if you are in e-business.

2.      The severs should be really fast.

3.      There must be 24/7 phone support with a live operator to attend to you and fix the urgent issues.

4.      Very high security and a facility of daily backup must also be considered.

5.      Different packages to suit your requirements of space as well as bandwidth should be available. Good hosts intimate their clients if they are likely to exceed the bandwidth. Thus they can upgrade their plans and avoid the possibility of their sites going offline.

6.      Almost all hosting companies provide some kind of control panel. Helm, Cpanel, Hsphere, Plesk, and Ensim are some popularly used control panels. Cpanel is the most common.

7.      POP3 accounts are a must. You’ll require enough POP3 accounts for the number of email addresses that you wish to create and assign to other people.

8.      What features are offered to handle spam and viruses is also very crucial while selecting the right Web host.

9.      If you are planning to run your own online store, check whether the server and the software are compatible with your shopping cart script. Further, you will need an SSL certificate to process credit card transactions.

Webhosting is a wide concept, as a webmaster you should be aware of all basic terms related to webhosting industry. Following are few basic terms which you should look after.

Disk Storage Space :  Disk storage space refers to the amount of server disk storage specifically allocated to your shared hosting account. This space can be used to store your html files, graphics, audio clips, POP3 mail messages, pdfs, and other files that make up your web site.

E-mail Accounts : Email accounts are a common feature of hosting, particularly if you are hosting a domain. Some hosts will let you have control over your mail settings, putting restrictions on mail activities (for example the number of accounts or maximum size of mail boxes) on the server side. Other hosts will do all the set up for you, even though setting up of new mail accounts can be easier than you think with the right software support.

How you configure your email is a matter of personal preference, but there are essentially four main types of mail accounts; POP3, forwarding, aliases and autoresponders.

# POP3 accounts are traditional “inboxes”, you have space on a server to store your mail, allowing you to use an email program to log in and download your mail; each login and password combination usually equates to one account. This works a bit like an office inbox, the mail is left there until you do something with it; if it is full then your mail can’t be stored and bounces.

# Forwarding mail accounts are useful if you want to send your mail to a service like SpamCop or other email filter before you receive it. Rather than store it on your mail server, it will redirect all mail to another single email address where it is dealt with appropriately. This kind of account is useful for redirecting your emails to a common POP3 box.

#Aliases are names that can be used to identify different types of email account, redirecting them to POP3 mailboxes on the server or other addresses, where they are processed again if necessary. What happens to the emails will depend on whom they are being sent to. A catch all alias is often used to collect and deal with email sent to people or departments not recognised by your mail server.

#Autoresponders are not an email account in their own right, however they do have their own email address and simply reply to anyone that emails them for information. They are useful if you want to send out pre-prepared information to people requesting it, as opposed to you replying to all the requests manually.

FTP Access

One other thing that is common amongst paid hosting accounts is FTP access. FTP programs allow you to upload files and to edit and delete your content on the server much more quickly than using a web-based interface. If you are hosting on a linux system, you will also be able to change your file permission settings using FTP

Follow these tips to get more out of the money you spend at Yahoo!

1) Find more keywords don’t limit your keywords to variations of your primary keyword. If you promote individual items, add those keywords to your list. Be sure to include misspellings.

There are a number of excellent free keyword tools to help you come up with ideas. Try these sites for a start:

If you’re really stumped for ideas, visit other websites in your niche and review their keywords. Pay particular attention to keywords in metatags, alt tags and title tags.

2) Bid smarter Being in the first position isn’t always ideal. PPC research has shown that the ad in the first position frequently gets clicked as a reflex. These “curiosity clicks” tend to have a low return on investment. Your best bet may be around 3rd position; on the first page, ideally above the fold.

Use the Overture bid tool at . You can frequently get an excellent position by bidding just a penny above your competitors. If you’re an Adwords aficionado, remember, Overture doesn’t calculate click-through rate for ad positions - your ad is ranked according to bid alone.

Write better ads Use action verbs. Be very specific about what you’re offering. Don’t use generic calls to action like “click here” - use action verbs and facts. Tell prospective visitors what makes your site different. Avoid superlatives like “We’re the best” and “#1″ - searchers are sensitive to marketing hype, even if you are #1.

Ad format matters Is your URL more than one word? Then capitalize the first letter in each word - it will make your ad easier to read. Be sure to include your keyword in the ad title, and repeat it again in your ad’s copy. Also, resist the temptation to save space with an ampersand (&). Shortcuts give off a non-professional image.

Track your results Overture has a robust, free tracking tool called Conversion Counter. Take the time to set it up and you’ll be able to see where the results are coming from - and where they’re not coming from. Some keywords may not generate a positive return on investment for you. Find out which ones are worth the money, and delete the non-performing keywords.

Get all you can out of each click If you can’t make a sale, maybe you can at least capture a name. Test offering a free report or other item of value in exchange for a visitor’s email address. That way you can keep the conversation going even if your prospect decides to not buy.

If you are planning to get into hosting business you can start with reseller hosting plans. You can create small hosting accounts and can sell then at lower cost and can start independent hosting business. A reseller buys hosting package from a webhosting company and then tries to sell it independently. As a reseller you are free to resell each plan under your own brand name and charge your customers with the rate as you feel good. As a reseller you can decide what kinds of services you will sell. You can resell shared hosting, dedicated hosting, or VPS Hosting plans. Start small if you are very new to the concept of reselling. To become a reseller, you don’t need to have a lot of technical knowledge, but some sales and internet knowledge is required. All you need is decent computer for your customer accounts management, and a good internet connection. Its always better to start with reseller hosting if you want to get into hosting business and once are confident with hosting platform you can proceed with VPS or dedicated servers. Always try to get webhost who is available round the clock for your support.

One of the biggest things to hit the Web in the last few years — blogging. A “blog” (derived from the term “web log”) is basically just a web site — with two key differences:First, it’s extremely easy to add information to it. A blog is like an online journal, so you just log in, type what happened today, post it, and you’re done!

Second, you can add a simple little feature that automatically tells a whole bunch of other web sites that you’ve made an update to your blog — every time you make a change!

You may also have heard that there are millions of blogs out there… more than 28 million with a new one starting every second, according to blog directory Technorati.

However, what you may NOT know is that a blog can also be a very powerful marketing tool for your business… And some people actually earn an income just from blogging!

The fact is, blogging is fast becoming an extremely important strategy for any online marketer. An effective blog can drive swarms of traffic to your main web site Generate MORE product sales Create an additional stream of advertising income Be a great customer service tool … And much more.

Blogs have an informal, conversational style, and readers can join in by commenting on each post. Blogs can be chatty, controversial, informative, opinionated, and often humorous, and it’s this “human” aspect of blogs that draws many people to them.

But the best part about blogs is how accessible they are to EVERYONE. Blogs are FREE (or very inexpensive) to set up using services like Blogger or TypePad.

EASY to use — you can literally create your own blog in less than five minutes!

EASY to promote with all the new tools and resources that have been created specifically for blogs — like Google’s blog-only search engine, Google Blog Search.

Plus, they are PROVEN successful promotional tools for both online businesses and offline businesses. In fact, every business person should have a blog — and I suspect that soon enough, everyone will.

How You Can Use a Blog to Wildly Accelerate Your Online Success!

The fact is, blogs are no longer just online diaries of people’s personal lives. Both online and offline businesses can use blogs to take their products and services to a wider audience — increasing their traffic, leads, and sales

Humanize your business: Because a blog is much more informal than other web sites, you can write posts in your own voice and give your business more of a human face. This helps reassure prospective customers that there is a “real person” behind the web site who will take care of their needs. It also allows you to inject much more of your own personality into your online business than your main sales site could do.

Improve your customer service: Your blog can act as a kind of interactive FAQ, allowing your customers to submit questions and you to answer them. You can also provide product updates, “How-to” articles, and other information of relevance to your customers. And prospective customers who see your blog will be encouraged by your commitment to good customer service!

Give your target market the information they’re looking for: With its automatic archiving feature — by date and category — a blog is a fantastic content management system. It’s easy for you to post new information on a regular basis, and it’s easy for your visitors to find the information they want. With a well-written, regularly updated blog, you can become a reliable resource in your industry, and build a following of loyal readers who depend on your content. These people will be your best potential customers!

Drive traffic to your sales web site: If you already have a web site, a blog can give your traffic levels a real boost. For starters, your blog will attract new visitors that you can then redirect to your main sales web site through links and special offers. But an even MORE effective technique is to use strategic keywords and links to specific sales pages to dramatically improve the search engine rankings of both your blog AND your main web site

Promote your products or services: You can actually sell products directly from a blog, or you can use your blog to mention new products and direct your visitors to your sales web site.

Generate extra income: There are now several advertising programs available, such as Google AdSense, that allow you to monetize your blog and generate an extra revenue stream.
