Bear in mind the following aspects :

Short is Success: It is not how many characters are allowed in a domain name that matters. It is the length that matters. It is needless to say that short names are easily memorized. If you want your visitors to visit your site again and again, keep your domain name compact. If it is not possible to get a domain identical to the name of your company/business, choose a very catchy and easy to remember name. Remember, a relevant name may not bring you business but a catchy name for which enough efforts are taken for branding would sure boost your business online.

Dot Com: For a commercial/business Web site .com is the best option. The first extension most Net users(both veterans and newbies) search is .com. Another reason being that the .com extension is so old that it gives an impression that your Web presence is sufficiently established.

Don’t make this mistake: Never ever select trademarked names. Period.

Be really quick: The probabilities of good short domain names getting registered are so high that a fraction of a minute can make a difference. Don’t waste a second. Even though you are in a dilemma, register it. It won’t cause more loss than what you are likely to incur if someone else takes it.

Two is company: It is advisable that you register a .net along with .com so that no one else takes it. If the same name(which may be relevant to your business) with another extension is owned by another business, you are likely to lose a considerable amount of traffic. You need not host a separate Web page for each of the two. Several domains can point to the same Web site.

No spaces, no symbols: Only letters, numbers and dashes are allowed in domain names. But domains are not case sensitive. We can forget such fundamental aspects at times.

May seek opinions: You may take a few views as regards the name. But remember, too many cooks spoil the broth!

It doesn’t cost much: Check the cost with different registrars. Don’t pay unduly high price.
